Flowers

Each year we hold a themed Flower Festival weekend in the church at the end of May.  The church is filled with lovely flower arrangements on each window ledge and on pedestals around the church, and accompanied by an exhibition in the Lady Chapel.  Our Flower Festival theme in 2017 was 'Jane Austen and Beetham in Regency times' to mark the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen, and in 2018 was '100 years of Beetham WI' to mark their Centenary year
Several hundred visitors come to enjoy the flowers and the exhibitions of books and artefacts reflecting the theme each year

Our theme for the May Bank Holiday Flower Festival Weekend in 2019 was 'Songs from the Musicals' to celebrate our thriving music tradition here in Beetham.  Entrance was free all weekend, and the church was full of displays with each flower arranger making their own interpretation of the theme.  There was an accompanying exhibition to recall the popularity and influence of 100 years of West End and Broadway Musicals - from Cole Porter's 'Hitchy-Koo' and Gershwin's 'La La Lucille' in 1919, right up to the present day.  Refreshments were available, and there was also live music from the Beetham Band, Beetham Handbellringers, and many talented musicians from the congregation

Throughout the rest of the year, the church flower arrangers are busy keeping the Sanctuary flowers fresh, and creating special displays to mark various festivals during the year.
